Incident:

Received dispatch from 911 call made from the Monarch Bluffs area. Response was made to Monarch Bluff region with back-up Deputy Ron Goldman. Officers met at the scene by a John Williams who led officers to the scene of the body. A Charity Blair was standing on the trail talking to dispatch on cellphone and hung up on arrival. After exploring the area of the body, officers walked the area to look for clues. Various items were found, and the crime scene was cleared and roped off. Homicide Detail called in, and they responded at 1100 hours.

Descriptions:

Site A (Body site):

The site, 25.2 ft. length x 24.4 ft. width, was on the edge of and crossing a trail area in Monarch Bluff, in a wooded area. It was covered with bushes, leaves, grass and had five or more trees in the area; body located 5.3 ft. left of the trail, which runs north and south. The body was located approx. .5 mi. in from the witnesses' parked car.

In the northwest corner of the site was a torn yellow blanket with a broken pair of wire rim glasses laying 1.4 ft. to the east of the blanket. Several pieces of rusty barbed wire were found laying 2.3 ft. to the west of the body. In the southwest corner of the site four Smirnoff vodka bottles were found partially covered in dirt, labels faded. One of the bottles was half-full, with lid off. In the southeast corner of the site were a small pile of bloody bandaids. The blood was brown, but the bandaids themselves did not seem old. On the west side of the body at a distance of 9.3 ft, on the other side of the trail at a distance of 2.3 ft were several pieces of torn notebook paper with notes made in pencil. Several torn items of clothing were scattered over the entire area east of the trail, some still damp with blood. Footprints by Charity Blair, John Williams and officers Estavez and Goldman were mapped and are attached to this report.

Streaks of blood found on leaves of shrubbery near the body.

Victim:

Body of white female was found face down, laying on stomach. Head was severely beaten and bloodied. Visible skin is white with purple splotches. Identification, age undetermined in the field. Bruises indicated along arms and scratches visible across back. Hair seemed partially torn from scalp. Victim may have been sexually assaulted. Body stiff, apparent rigor mortis.

Site B (Location witnesses' parked vehicle):

The site, 50.3 ft. length x 26.4 ft. width, is a parking area located at the head of a trail leading into the Monarch Bluffs area. John Williams showed registration to a blue 1986 F-Series Ford pick-up truck parked. No other vehicles parked in the area at the time of this reporting. Several candy bar wrappers, a soda can, and a piece of rusty barbed wired found at trail head. Footprints by those noted in Site A and tire tracks from the Ford pickup were mapped and attached to this report.
