Notes on the Farson Case [ previous notes ] 25 October – 1 November – Well, this has been one hell of a week. I spoke to Ed about calling it quits. This Farson case
is really getting to me. I've had problems sleeping and some pretty nasty nightmares since I've started on it. Ed was pretty understanding, but he convinced me that quitting now
would really throw a wrench into the machinery, so to speak. I'll try to stick it out until it's finished.
On the 26th, I went to qualify at the Range. There I was, just
ready to draw and fire, when the target came up: A blown up photo of Ally Farson's wanted poster affixed to the cardboard, with a bullseye over her face! To say I lost it would be an
understatement! Range Master wasn't too thrilled, neither was the joker who did it after the two of us got a hold of him!
've gotten news from London, and it's not good: Three girls
were seen leaving a coffee shop with Ally Farson, and haven't been seen since! Now I'm worried!
I've been reading Ally's diaries and letters (I'm surprised that
she had anyone to write to). Again, that gut feeling is surfacing that maybe, maybe, Ally Farson did not commit these murders! I see a lot of anger, fear, loneliness and
repression (it sounds VERY familiar) but I don't really see anything in her correspondence that would merit her committing any atrocities against anybody. I spoke to Sturka
again. He's a very likeable person, and quite savvy when it comes to people. He told me that, in all his conversations with Ally, that she NEVER once said anything about hurting
others. Odd, and the way her peers treated her, that's surprising. I remember how I used to feel.
Another thing that I've found interesting. Most serial killers
start out by being cruel to and torturing animals. I found out from other neighbors that Ally was passionately fond of cats! I mentioned this to Jack, and he said that if so, why did she
beat that dog half to death? Curiouser and Curiouser, Said Alice!
2 – 5 November – Had an interview with the witness to the events on the evening of 11 July, Robert Horner. He was
pretty helpful about everything, but one thing that strikes me as odd: He didn't see what had happened! He was sitting across from the telephones and he didn't actually see Ally
murder his girlfriend, Katie Moss! When I asked him why he sped off, he began hedging. I had to reassure him that nothing would happen to him, and he admitted that he took off
because he was afraid someone would call the police for a disturbance, and he had a Crystal Meth lab and the drug in the back of his truck! Damn! I thought he could give us
some better information! (Looking at the original DR, Katie threatened to call 911)
Finally, we got the film from the security cameras held by the
Eldorado Bank. They showed Katie Moss being strangled, but the film is pretty blurry (CrimeLab had to enhance it a lot of times) so if I were trying to convince a jury that the
"person" shown on the tape was, in fact, Ally Farson, I wouldn't be able to do so! A piece of good news is that the tape shows the exact time of the events as they happened!
Spoke to the owners of the Café du Cathay Chinese restaurant (very good food too, I may add!) Phillip Wu. Wu told me that he remembered a man and a women who fitted
the description having dinner (so did his daughter). I showed him photos of both Ally and Reid, and Wu and he identified both Ally and Reid as the couple who had dined there that
evening. He wasn't exactly sure when they left, but he said it was before 9pm. I asked if either seemed agitated. Wu told me that they seemed very calm, enjoying their dinner and
laughing together. (I know serial killers are deranged in a way, but I can't help but wonder how ANYONE could have a meal and in less then an hour murders three people?)
I later spoke to the employees at the Blockbuster Video store, and I was told the same. They identified both people in the photos, and said that they were in the store for approx. 10
minutes. Neither seemed nervous, upset or agitated. Reid asked inquired about whether or not the store had the size film for his camera (they did; wrong type, though). Ally
looked at the selection in the foreign film section. Again, this doesn't sound right to me, for some reason.
5 – 8 November –
Called on Sis today. I had to have a break, so I drove up to the Convent and had breakfast with her. She
looks great, and being Mother Superior has its perks, too! Breakfast was simple, and the coffee excellent. I began to tell her about the Farson case, and she was very insightful to
say the least! She told me that through all her years of teaching parochial school, she saw many cases of children like Ally who was the brunt of cruel and heartless prank by
their classmates. For what reason she didn't know: They're kids, after all! But, she never heard of any of these students
committing murder when they grew up. Is Ally the exception to this? I wonder.
More news from London. According to Scotland Yard, Ally's
brother is a real dirtbag too! You name it, he's into it: Child Porn, drugs, prostitution, etc. They'd love to catch him AND
Ally. I guess David has been living underground for a number of years (My God, what a screwed up family!) Speaking of which, what about her sister Frances? Where is she in all of
this?
9 – 11 November –
Well, Happy Veteran's Day! I went and tried to talk to Ally's Mother/Grandmother. Once again, one minute she'll be answering my questions and the next she'll
be clamping up and not saying anything! She had an attorney with her, for Christ's sake, and this Bozo would actually have to tell her whether to answer "Yes or No" to the
simplest question. Example: "May I get a glass of water, Ms. Farson?" She actually looked to her attorney. He
thinks, and whispers in her ear a moment. Ms. Farson nods, and then replies, "Yes, you may." And they wonder why I despise lawyers.
Ed informed me that I might have to go to London soon. That would be nice, but that's not how I wanted to visit it. Oh, well! May as well pack a bag. |
