Witness Statement: Paul James Harris

Harris came to Orange Beach Authorities on June 6^th, 1999 of his own accord. He stated he was disturbed over a conversation he had with Dietrich on June 4^th.

STATEMENT:

Sabrina and I have been friends for a long time. Not like an intimate friendship, but very close friends. I believe that Sabrina has told me everything about her. I often think I'm – well, that I was – Sabrina's personal diary.

I just wanted to talk to someone about this, because Sabrina meant the world to me. I can't even believe she's gone, but when I woke up this morning, I got ready to go meet her for a cup of latte, and, well. Habits are hard to break.

Sabrina and I met regularly for a cup of latte or a glass of wine. The day before she was found, she called me and told me she didn't have time for a sit-down, but that she would meet me in front of the coffee shop for a minute to tell me some exciting news.

Well, I'm all ears. I met up with her, and she looked so gorgeous, just glowing. She said that she was considering working on a tall ship that was sailing to New Zealand. Of course, this was disturbing to me, because I knew that she was getting on so well with her boyfriend and she was also thinking about getting married. I asked her about this, and she just turned black. It was an about face, let me tell you!

She said that her boyfriend, Bill – you know about him don't you – was a quote unquote jerk! I've not seen her that angry in ages! I just did what I could to calm her down and I wanted more information about Bill, but she said she had to run on and finish some errands.

I was so disturbed about this, and thought about it all day long. I didn't know that you could sail the Pacific all the way from here to New Zealand in the winter. Can you?
